Position: Educator – STEAM

(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths)

Hours: Full-time

Contract Type: Part-time fixed term 12 months

Location: Christchurch (with some travel across Canterbury and South Island)

Salary Range: $65,000–$75,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and culturally grounded STEAM Educator to join our growing team.

This role leads the design and delivery of innovative, hands-on learning experiences for Pacific

children and youth (ages 8–18), grounded in Pacific values and knowledge systems.

As a key member of our education team, you’ll facilitate learning across schools, community

spaces, and outreach sites — with a strong focus on culturally responsive teaching, mentoring,

and engagement. You’ll also help co-create resources, support programme planning, and

contribute to building a national model of Pacific STEAM education.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver STEAM-based workshops, lessons, and events in schools and community settings

• Facilitate learning that is interactive, culturally relevant, and strengths-based

• Build meaningful relationships with learners, families, and partners

• Support integration of Pacific knowledge, language, and values into all learning

• Collaborate with mentors, artists, technologists, and facilitators in delivery

• Assist in resource creation, curriculum development, and digital content

• Support evaluation, impact reporting, and learner voice collection

• Represent Tagata Moana Trust at education and community events

What You’ll Bring

• Strong teaching, facilitation, or youth engagement experience

• Passion for working with Pacific young people, whānau, and communities

• Confidence in at least one STEAM area (e.g. coding, design, digital tech, science, maths, creative arts, engineering)

• Excellent communication, planning, and classroom management skills

• A culturally responsive and learner-centred teaching approach

• Willingness to travel for regional delivery and occasional weekend events

Desirable (but not essential):

• Teaching qualification or experience in formal/informal education

• Pacific heritage or strong connection to Pacific communities

• Pacific language fluency or cultural teaching experience

• Experience in co-design or working within Pacific frameworks

• Familiarity with the NZ curriculum, digital tech curriculum, or alternative education

Position Title:

Operations Coordinator (PartTime)

Hours: 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday, ideally within School hours or similar)

Location: Christchurch

Contract Type: Part-time fixed term 12 months

About the Role

We’re looking for a highly organised and proactive Operations Coordinator to join our small but

mighty team. This part-time role is ideal for someone who thrives on making things happen

behind the scenes — turning big ideas into smooth-running programmes and providing crucial

support to our Director and delivery staff.

You'll work school hours (approximately 9am–2pm) Monday to Friday, supporting programme

delivery, staff coordination, logistics, and admin functions. This role is perfect for a community-

minded professional with strong coordination skills who enjoys variety and is confident working

independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Work directly with the Director to action ideas, develop plans, and track progress

• Coordinate programme logistics (e.g. venues, resources, bookings, run sheets)

• Schedule meetings, manage calendars, and support staff with planning

• Keep internal systems, documents, and processes organised and up to date

• Help prepare reports, funding documentation, and evaluations

• Support smooth communication with facilitators, contractors, and community partners

• Maintain confidentiality and uphold our Trust values in all areas of work

What You’ll Bring

• Excellent organisational and communication skills

• Proven experience in administration, coordination, or programme delivery

• Confidence using digital tools (A.I, Google Workspace, Xero, or project management apps)

• Ability to work flexibly and prioritise tasks across multiple projects

• A genuine passion for community work, especially Pacific communities

• Cultural awareness and sensitivity when working in diverse environments

Desirable (but not required):

• Experience in education, not-for-profit, or creative/community sectors

• Knowledge of Pacific cultures or a Pacific language
