"Mana Tamaiti" is more than just a program; it's a transformative experience designed to bridge the representation gap in STEAM fields. Currently, less than 5% of Pacific people are working in STEAM. We're changing that narrative!
Our curriculum-aligned lessons integrate Pacific culture, history, and arts into STEM, empowering students with a strong sense of cultural pride and identity.
We offer small group settings for year 6-10 Pacific students, focusing on essential digital skills and preparing them for a future in STEAM.

Tupaia CLUBHOUSE
Tupaia STEAM is Back — Now as Tupaia Clubhouse!
Join us every Tuesday during the term for Tupaia Clubhouse 4-6pm
Aimed at our young people aged 10-13, Tupaia Clubhouse will teach our students how to navigate the ever changing tides of STEAM in a fun after school environment. Our Tupaia students will dip into everything from digital media production, real world product design, urban planning, game design and loads more!
Our aim is to equip our tamariki with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in our rapidly changing world, and develop their many strengths while deepening their appreciation for the innovation and genius of our ancestors.
Tupaia STEAM ACADEMY
Tupaia STEAM Academy is a Tagata Moana-led mentoring and pathways programme for Pacific rangatahi aged 14–18. We are accepting 70 students across Christchurch, Ashburton and Timaru who are keen to pursue STEAM industry careers.
Students of Tupaia STEAM Academy will experience:
• Weekly in-school engagement and academic coaching
• STEAM tutoring in maths, science, technology if needed.
• Talanoa-based mentoring with Pacific role models
• Collective termly wānanga in the school holidays featuring robotics, coding, engineering, and design workshops and industry visits.
• Industry exposure, tertiary preparation, and scholarship support

Moana Money
Are you ready to empower your Pacific Secondary students with essential financial skills? Join our 5-week financial capability program and watch them develop a positive money mindset and financial competence.
Our program covers five crucial topics:

Each session is 2 hours long, providing a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.

FATU Projects
At Tagata Moana Trust, we take pride in building meaningful relationships with industry partners and professionals who are passionate about making a difference. Through our FATU Projects, we host Industry Site Visits and STEAM networking activities and learning events. Providing Pacific youth and Tamaiti with unique opportunities to explore the inner workings of leading organisations, gain invaluable insights into STEAM and inspire STEAM Careers.
These events connect our youth with trailblazers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, inspiring them to envision their potential and empowering them to take bold steps toward their future.
